We may consider adding a GIFImageWriter plug-in when the GIF patent expires
internationally in 6/2004.

A GIFImageWriter plug-in has been included in the JAI IIO Tools 1.0_01
release, so we should try to pull it into the JDK for Mustang.

Here, here.  Be interested to know why Sun bothered 
providing an ImageReader for a .GIF but not the 
corresponding ImageWriter.  Very strange.

Hi, Gif is a common image file format and I think equally
important as JPG format.

Please do provide a writer for it. This will make the reader
and writer to be consistence.

I don't know if that is Sun's responsiblity.

The patent on LZW expires tomorrow (June 20, 2003).  So 
now, GIFs are free to write, well tomorrow they are...  Please 
include support for writing GIFs now, thanks.
