When an update occurs, a dialog appears stating that there is an update to be
downloaded next time, it comes up as a modal dialog with no parent frame.  As
an application starts up, this can easily be hidden behind another window and
the only way to find this dialog again is to hit alt-tab until the dialog is
found and can be exited.  Until this happens, out application appears frozen.
