Description

Name: nt126004 Date: 12/10/2002

FULL PRODUCT VERSION :
java version "1.4.1_01"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.1_01-b01)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.1_01-b01, mixed mode)

FULL OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION :

Microsoft Windows 2000 [Version 5.00.2195]

A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
After installing the previous version of JWS 1.0.1, and
checking for an update, it notifies of an update 1.0.1_02
being available not the 1.2 version. Installed the
1.0.1_02 in hopes that after installing that, maybe the
next check would return 1.2 as the latest version. Which
it did not.

STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
1. Install the JWS 1.0.1.
2. "Check For Update" in the help menu.
3. Offers 1.0.1_02, should have offered 1.2 instead.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
Should have offered 1.2 instead of 1.0.1_02 or a least
notified that there was a later version than 1.0.1_02. The
user cannot use the "Check For Update" option to verify if
they have the latest version, with this current state of
the product.

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

EVALUATION

This bug is not in javaws itself, but rather in a file that needs to get pushed
to the web with each release, we missed it for hopper, but will try to get it
pushed now.

###@###.### 2002-12-11

There has been request to remove the "check for update" from appman index, allong with adding the newest version of this file. This would avoid necessity of ever having to update this file again.
