Description

=============================
1.4.1 Multiversioning - JPI IE browser collision
=============================
Tested Using Internet Explorer
Install 1.4.1_04b1 JDK/JRE to default install dir
Install 1.4.1 FCS JDK/JRE to default install dir
Open Java Plugin Control Panel
- Choose Start>Settings>Control Panel>Java Plugin control panel
- Choose About Tab - shows last installed version i.e. 1.4.1 fcs
i.e. downgrade version
Should it retain the latest 1.4.1_04 version ?? or is this expected? (now that 1.4.1+ are sharing the same jpicpl32.cpl)
- Choose Advanced Tab>Java Runtime Environment>Use Java-Plugin Default
- First, run a 1.4.1 fcs specific applet using IE browser
C:\j2sdk1.4.1\demo\plugin\applets\Clock\example1.html
Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.1
Using JRE version 1.4.1 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
- Secondly, run another 1.4.1_04 specific applet in same browser window
C:\j2sdk1.4.1_04\demo\plugin\applets\Clock\example1.html
The following warning prompt shows the collision
========
Java Plug-in Warning prompt:
Applet(s) in this HTML page requires a version of java different from the one
the browser is currently using. In order to run the
applet(s) in this HTML page, a new browser session is required, press 'Yes' to
start a new browser session
> Choose Yes button on this prompt to proceed
========
Successfully spawns a new IE process (new browser window) as expected, but the applet in the "old" browser session contains a typo:
"Java Plug-in detected JRE collission"
Note: collision is mis-spelt
Java(TM) Plug-in: Version 1.4.1_04
Using JRE version 1.4.1_04 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

The bug shows up in 1.4.1_04, 1.4.2_01, and Tiger (all builds.)
I'll fix in the next update releases, I've sent mail to the plugin team to
get them to fix this in Tiger.

The prompt "Applet(s) in this HTML page requires a version of java different from the one the browser is currently using. In order to run the applet(s) in this HTMLpage, a new browser session is required, press 'Yes' to start a new browser session" appears but with no 'Yes' button to press. What do I do?
