Description
A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
The deployment guide currently links to http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/autodl-files.html which lists cab files to be used against Internet Explorer. This same documentation should list URLs for XPI files to be used against FireFox. That is, if a user hits a website that contains an applet and he does not have the plugin installed I'd like to request his browser install the appropriate XPI. Java.com already does this but it does not allow us to control which version to install (currently 6.0 is not even supported) and the URLs are not published officially.

This all makes it quite difficult for an end-user to install the Java Plugin.

As per the inputs given by Mark Knapp - Software Ops Engineer, I have provided links to all the available .xpi files of post 1.4.1 JRE versions. Mark opines that .xpi files are either not available or EOL'd for pre 1.4.1 versions of JRE.
