Confirmed that this bug exists for Vista. I slipped up and let your updater run on my new PC and this reminded me to ban the obnoxious jusched.exe from running on all my machines again, thanks!!!

July 21st 2008 and this problem is still around! (Or more to the point, back again!) My husband updated our java last night and today I have an IE Security dialog stating that
"A websites wants to open web content using this program on your computer. This program does not have a valid digital signature that verifies its publisher. "
While it does include the name of the problem exe and that Sun made it at the bottom, what the computer sees is again unsigned! From what it shows in my "details" view, it is referring to ...GRA~1\Java\JRE16~4.0_0\bin\ssvagent.exe though it says the name of the program is ...es\Java\jre1.6.0_07\bin\ssvagent.exe Allowing a bug back into a system almost a year after you've closed it out doesn't look good!

Ssvagent needs to be signed? How do you do that? Not only whenever I open Internet Explorer, but every time I click on any link, that message box comes up. There's no way I can live with that.

Launching javaws.exe also displays the warning dialog (Java 1.6.0_07).

Happenning with update 7, also getting tired of the growing number of updates listed in add remove programs...... very annoying. jusched running all the time is also annoying. Addons in general beginning to be a real problem, Flash etc. Better get it right or MS will be able to get away with replacing all of you.

Dito on a freshly installed Vista SP1 after installing Java on it today.
Perhaps it's time to re-open this bug?

Try this option from Lee
Tool -> Manage Add-ons -> Enable or Disable Add-ons
Click on SSVHelper Class
Select Disable under Settings

Stelletje prutsers! Ever heard of Release Management? It's about not using old versions of files for builidng new releases. You should try it sometime....duh.
I HAVE to install Java because my bank uses it. I detest java. Only for the fact that it is 136 Mb big and doesn't do anything, other than spy on your browing habits. Now the reintroduced issue with the ssvagent.exe.... Guys, give it up and adopt .NET....

Same problem here using Vista & IE. Ran the "verify" pgm from java's homepage to check I had the latest version installed, which I did. The install instructions advise to restart your browser which I hadn't done at that point. Simply restarted IE and the problem disappeared! Try it.

Hey guys,
this is happening to me as well. I just downloaded the update per the prompt from the updater, and immediately started having this problem. I do have the latest version, and have restarted the browser. I'm using Vista Business SP1, and IE7 only has MS Research, Adobe Reader, and IE7 Pro as the add-ons. Is the only option to either ignore the invalid certificate or disable ssvagent?

Just try the suggestions posted to get around the problem before making comments. The comment from Ramanan S - to disable the Add-on - worked for me.

Hi,
I also have this problem. Looking at your Evaluation, I still don't know how to fix the problem. How do I install/make/sign/Makefile and add the signing of ssvagent.exe and jbroker.exe? Please advise. THANKS.
