A DESCRIPTION OF THE PROBLEM :
Fresh install on Windows 7 Ultimate from MSDN RTM build
When clicking on new tab or opening a link in a new tab in Internet Explorer 8, the new tab can take up to about 5-6 seconds to appear.

However, if the Java Plug-In Addon is disabled in IE8, new tabs appear instantly


STEPS TO FOLLOW TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM :
Open Internet Explorer 8 browser with Java Plug-in Addon enabled and click on a new tab or open a link in a new tab.

EXPECTED VERSUS ACTUAL BEHAVIOR :
EXPECTED -
New tab should appear pretty much instantly
ACTUAL -
New tab can take at least 5-6 seconds to appear

REPRODUCIBILITY :
This bug can be reproduced always.

CUSTOMER SUBMITTED WORKAROUND :
Disabled the Java Plugin Addon in the Manage Addons page in Internet Explorer 8

A fix for 6792558 : IE7 delay for every new opened tab
has been integrated into 6u18 b01.

I can see that this ticket is closed and it refers to ticket #6792558.

At ticket #6792558 I'm only seeing that the bug is not abailable.

This ticket is the only that describes the problem with load time in IE 8.0 with the add-on enabled.
Ticket #6747116 refers to the fact that the add-on gets installed and enabled, and not any solution.

Should this ticket be opened again?

i too am seeing this issue even when just starting internet explorer 8 with jdk 1.6.0_17

the internet explorer manage add ins section lists the java plugin load time as 4.97 seconds (repeatable)

the bug referred to by this bug is not publically available.  please expose it so that we can track progress

i have disable the java plugin until this issue is resolved ... i start internet explorer often, and waiting 5 seconds is painful compared with < 1 second
